Mike Scioscia #302B

Los Angeles Dodgers.

Date of birth: November 271958 Upper Darby, PA

High School:  Springfield HS (Springfield, PA)

College Penn State University (State College, PA)

Nickname: Sosh.

First Impression; Very obscure reference here but if you are a fan of Mr. Show and Bob Odenkirk, Mike looks like Bob’s character Droopy. He looks annoyed and sweaty, perhaps heat stroked.

Career stats player: Mike played all his games with the Dodgers. He was an All-Star later in his career in 1989 and 1990. His career average was .259 and his 1131 hits are second all time for Dodgers other than Roy Campanella. That’s where the comparison to Campanella ends hitting wise. He won two World Series as a player, and one as a manager.

All Time Stat: Batting 6th was his best slot in the order, over 437 games he hit 29 HR and averaged .270 in the 6 hole.

Career stats manager: 1650-1428. Mike managed all his games with the Angels. He actually had three stints with the Angels, beginning with the Anaheim Angels in 2000, and in two short years he was manager of the year and World Series Champion in 2002. They faltered the year after and returned for a playoff sweep in 2004.

Then Mike began his tenure with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. For them he would have his best seasons, from 2005-2009 they were 475-335 but failed to have much playoff success. From 2010-2015 their worst season record wise was 78-84. They would make their last playoff appearance under Scioscia in 2014.

Finally, Mike managed the Los Angeles Angels from 2016-2018. The team muddled around .500 those three years and did not make the postseason.

Fun Fact: Maybe the Scioscia curse is on. Since his firing they have not finished higher than 3rd place… and as of 2025 their record was 476-586 .448 winning percentage since his firing.

Ever a Future Star?  This was it.

Rookie or final card? This was his rookie, he would have 12 more base cards and manager cards from 2001-2009.

Hall of Fame? Number retired? No
