Cleveland Indians.
Date of birth: November 1, 1954 Santiago, Dominican Republic
First Impression; First off I have to confess a minor faux pax as a kid as I know that I routinely referred to this player as MIG-WELL DILL-OWN. Again, not understanding the nuisances of languages yet. But now that I know it is DEE-LOW-NAY I would have appreciated an accent mark Topps. I could have been more cultured. I knew him because he had been on the Cubs in his 1980 Card.
Career stats: He played for 7 different teams none more than Cleveland. In those 340 games, he hit .289.He is in the 2000 at bat club and 800 game club. It is a large club. Narrow that club to those who had 6 or fewer HR in their career and the list drops to 48. And of THOSE players, Dilone had the LEAST amount of RBI with 129, the most being someone named Muddy Ruel with 536. I then narrowed it down further to just players from 1950 on that eliminated a lot of dead ball era wonky stats. And brought the list down to 11. Of that list Duane Kuiper had the most RBI at 263 (with his single homer).
All time stat: 6 homers you know we have to run them down (game no.).
1978 122 Oakland Don Gullett
1979 216 Oakland Frank Tanana
1982 519 Cleveland LaMarr Hoyt
1982 526 Toronto Roy Lee Jackson
1982 536 Cleveland Dennis Eckersley
1984 651 Montreal Bill Scherrer
Not a bad group, it includes a HOF, a Cy Young and a 2500+ K guy.
Fun fact: He left losses with his head high as he did his part, hitting .319 in losses which lead baseball.
Ever a Future Star? He was a 1978 Topps Rookie Outfielders with Dave Bergman, Clint Hurdle and Willie Norwood.
Rookie or final card? No
Hall of Fame? Number retired? N/A
